MEMORIAL SERVICE: 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Sidney Baptist Church.

Fred Jay Vineyard, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in Comanche, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on January 3, 1948, in Gorman, Texas, to William Hayes and Veda Lucille (Smith) Vineyard. He overcame Polio, which he contracted before his first birthday, and went on to attend school in Sidney, Texas, graduating in 1967. Fred was a dispatcher for the police department in several Texas towns, including Comanche and Stephenville. He was a Mason, along with Bill and Dean Vineyard and other family members and nephews, and was a member of May Lodge #574, in May, Texas, where he held the office of Secretary for many years.

He is survived by three sisters: Jane Vineyard of Sterling, Colorado, Lou Williams of Sidney, and Inez Robison and husband Larry of Sidney; brother, Wayne Vineyard and wife Carrie of Liberty Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents, William and Veda Vineyard; and two brothers, Bill Vineyard and Dean Vineyard

The family would like to thank Western Hills Nursing Home staff for their love and care of Fred, and also Solaris Hospice for their support, and care. They provided services above and beyond duty.
