Thomas named offensive player of week

Sport: STEPHENVILLE (December 2, 2014) — Tarleton State senior guard Kathy Thomas is the Lone Star Conference women’s basketball offensive player of the week.

Conference officials honored Thomas Monday afternoon, less than 48 hours following her second hot shooting performance in as two days.

Thomas hit all seven of her 3-point attempts and was 9-14 from the floor while scoring a career-best 25 points to help Tarleton edge Lubbock Christian 73-71 in overtime Friday. She was 8-13 shooting with 17 points – six in the final six minutes – in a 65-61 win over Texas-Permian Basin Saturday. Both games were part of Lubbock Christian’s Lowe’s Market Thanksgiving Classic.

Thomas averages 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists for Tarleton (4-1), in its first season under new head coach Misty Wilson.

The TexAnns are up first in a Wisdom Gym doubleheader Tuesday. Tarleton’s men and women host Arlington Baptist College at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Admission to Tuesday’s game is free for everyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Optimist Club’s Tots For Kids Drive.
