The unsung contribution was that of Bailey Fenn at the front of the Lingleville defense.

“He was great at the front of our press, really disruptive,” said third-year Lingleville head coach Kade Eckert. “That’s a big reason we were able to get a good lead.”

The Cardinals hit eight 3-pointers in the first half and used a 27-12 second-quarter explosion to lead 40-21 by the intermission. Griffin buried six triples for the game.

“We made some subs, and it’s early in the year so we’re trying different things,” said Eckert of the second half. “We did some things defensively we normally wouldn’t do, and they beat us down the floor a couple times.”

Bart VanKranenburg scored nine for Lingleville and Bret Cogburn added three.

Lingleville makes the short trip to Gustine for tournament play Thursday through Saturday.

“It’s set up where we could play five games in three days,” said Eckert. “That’s a grind, but its a chance to end the week with 10 wins.”
