When they gather this morning for their regular meeting, Erath County Commissioners will discuss a number of items that involve county road work. In addition, they’ll also look at eFiling for the Erath County Clerk’s Office and the Erath County District Clerk’s Office.

According to County Judge Tab Thompson, commissioners will address a resolution to close/abandon public roadways in Erath County. He said this was already a resolution, just one they’re looking into rewording some of the requirements for the policy. Once done, the court will discuss taking action on approving the closure of a portion of CR 228.

In other business, commissioners will discuss possible issues with changing a private road into a public, county road which the commissioner of that precinct would have to pay to maintain. This could also give the public access to a roadway not previously available.

The court will consider giving Scot Jackson, Commissioner Pct. 4, permission to clear a fence row on Gale Moericke’s property, located on CR 136. Jackson said this will make for more visibility and safer road conditions for area residents.

Before adjourning, commissioners will discuss payment processing instructions and guidelines for the eFiling system the County and District Clerks’ offices use. These systems make filing documents, paying for filings and accessing filed documents faster and more convenient for Erath County residents and employees.

The public is invited to join the Erath County Commissioners for their regular meetings every second and fourth Monday at 9 a.m. on the second floor of the Erath County Courthouse.
