Lingleville girls win district opener

Sport: (January 12, 2014) — A strong defensive performance and a combined 27 points from guards Marley Wood and Sandra Nava were enough for Lingleville to capture victory in its District 18-A opener Friday.

Wood scored 15 points and Nava added 12 for the Lady Cardinals, who edged Gorman 40-38 at LHS.

“We played good defense and played hard the whole game,” said Lingleville head coach Laura Kouns, whose club hosts arch-rival Huckabay at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday following a junior varsity contest at 5.

Xequoia Hallmark netted nine points for the Lady Cardinals, Hannah Willis had two and Damarys Flores two.
