Tarleton was 11-20 from the 3-point arc, knocking down 55 percent on the road at Greyhound Arena in Portales. Three other TexAnns reached double figures – Raven McGrath with 14, Kathy Thomas 12 and Ikpeaku Iwobi 12.

Iwobi, just a sophomore, also hauled in 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double in five games.

Overall, Tarleton shot 42 percent and limited ENMU to 39 percent. The TexAnns were even hot from the free throw line, hitting a perfect 12-12. They grabbed 40 total rebounds to Eastern’s 30.

Wipff’s 15 points in the game’s first 10 minutes powered Tarleton to a 25-15 lead, and it grew to 37-23 at intermission.

ENMU pulled within 57-50 on a 3-pointer by Jordyn Cooper with 4:57 left, but McGrath answered with a long ball at the other end 23 seconds later.

The Zias cut it to 62-54 at the 3:33 mark, but Wipff hit a dagger 3-pointer before a jumper by Karli Moore and free throws by McGrath and Thomas pushed the lead – and final tally – to 71-56.

Sarah Stinnett led the Zias with 20 points on 10-19 shooting, but like her teammates, she struggled from the arc. She was 0-3, and the Zias were just 3-16 (18.8 percent) as a team. They shot just 39 percent overall.

Tarleton hosts McMurry at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wisdom Gym, with the men to follow at 7:30.

Notable: Tarleton avoided its first three-game losing streak since 2011…Iwobi is averaging 11.1 points and 10.3 rebounds over her last seven games, five of them double-doubles.
