Sport: (January 28, 2015) — It was just what the doctor – or in this case third-year head coach Kade Eckert – ordered for the Lingleville Cardinals at Gorman Tuesday night: build a big lead, then rest, because a colossal showdown lies ahead Friday.

The Cardinals were ahead 70-36 through three quarters then emptied the bench as Gorman made a huge rally in the fourth to close the final gap to 78-71.

The Cardinals were never in danger during the tumultuous fourth period, when they rested all their key players in anticipation of Friday’s trip to Huckabay with the outright lead in District 18-A on the line.

Lingleveill knocked down 12 3-pointers, including four by Colbe Stoker for all of his 12 points, and three by Tim Griffin, who led everyone with 21. Lingleville was well balanced, with Jarod Hagood pouring in a career-best 15 in the paint and Tom VanKranenburg adding 13. Brady Sult and Caleb Jay scored six each, Bailey Fenn had three and Alex Huerta two.
