(February 3, 2015) — With a lineup as balanced as Stephenville’s, not even head coach Alan Thorpe can guess where the scoring will come from on a given night.

Tuesday, for example, was Lyndi Graham’s turn. She poured in 23 points to lead the Honeybees in a 69-48 rout of Mineral Wells, setting the stage for Friday when Stephenville hosts No. 2 Abilene Wylie, the leader by two games in 6-4A. The Bees are alone in second, one game ahead of Brownwood.

Graham poured in eight points in the second, six in the third and seven in the fourth after starting quietly with a two-point first. She was joined in double figures by Cassidy Cline with 11. Cline hit three of the Bees’ nine 3-pointers.

The Bees led throughout after scoring the game’s first seven points. It was a five-point contest until a 9-0 second-quarter run that made it 28-14.

Mineral Wells trimmed it to 28-18 at intermission, but the Bees pushed ahead by as many as 17 in the third, when Cline hit two triples to match Graham with six points.  The Bees pulled away in the fourth, when they exploded for 23 points.

Breanna Wooley and Bayleigh Chaviers scored five each in the fourth, giving them eight and seven, respectively. Kali Smith also scored eight, Ali Thorpe six, Lariat Larner four and Skylar Chpman two.

Shorthanded Jackets hang for a half before Mineral Wells pulls away.

A sweeping illness forced the Stephenville boys to visit Mineral Wells with just seven players, two of which were junior varsity pull-ups.

The Yellow Jackets hung tough for much of the first half, even tying the score at 28-28. But Mineral Wells scored seven points in a span of 20 seconds to make it 35-28 at the break, and pulled away after intermission, 75-58.

The Honeybees tipoff at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the Jackets at 8, both at Gandy Gym.
