Damion Clemons proves you don’t have to be in the starting five to make an impact on the hardwood.
The Tarleton State senior from Dallas was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday after helping the No. 12 Texans extend their win streak to seven and secure their sixth straight 20-win season.
The Dallas Adams product came off the bench to average a team-leading 6.5 rebounds in a Wednesday road win over No. 23 Midwestern State and a Saturday home triumph against Cameron (Okla.). He also blocked five shots.
Clemons is the fourth Tarleton player to earn a player of the week honor from LSC officials in Richardson, joining Davene Carter, TaShawn Mabry and Mo Lee.
The Texans entertain No. 7 Angelo State in a much-anticipated battle Wednesday night at Wisdom Gym. Tipoff is about 7:30 p.m. following a women’s contest at 5:30.
