(February 11, 2015) — Huckabay had four double-digit scorers and used the balanced scoring to cruise past Gorman 62-47 in Tuesday night District 18-A boys basketball action.

The Indians didn’t know it until after their game, but just up the road a bit, the Strawn Greyhounds were doing them a large favor by upsetting district-leader Lingleville 46-44. Huckabay, which lost 45-36 to Lingleville during the first district loop, now has a chance to win the district outright with a victory over its arch-rival in the rematch next Tuesday.

Gavin Fuentes scored 19, including 12 in the second half, to lead Huckabay Tuesday. He also got plenty of help from his friends, particularly Cade Little with 13, JW Weiss 12 and Ky Bray 10. Little had nine in the second half while Weiss poured in 10 of his before intermission.

Levi Dowell added four for Huckabay while Tyler Stegall chipped in two and Ritchey Jordan one.

Huckabay entertains Gordon at 6:30 p.m. Friday before its trip to Lingleville for each team’s district finale.
