Carter advances to semifinals in Darkhorse Dunker competition

STEPHENVILLE (February 25, 2015) — Davene Carter is on to the semifinals.

Carter, a senior forward for No. 7 Tarleton State, is in the State Farm Darkhorse Dunker competition that determines which “darkhorse” gets to compete against major college players in a college slam dunk contest at the Final Four in Indianapolis.

The competition, done in bracket style, is decided based solely on fan votes at www.darkhorsedunker.com. Fans may vote three times per day – once from Facebook, once from Twitter and once from an email address.

Carter is currently matched up against Andrew Smith of Liberty. The other semifinal is between Antjuan Ball of West Texas A&M and Chrishawn Hopkins of Wright State.

Carter and the Texans, the top team in the South Central Region, visit McMurry at 6 p.m. Wednesday and return home to play for at least a share of the Lone Star Conference chapionship against Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m. Saturday.
