STEPHENVILLE (March 4, 2015) — Lori Beaty has been promoted to assistant vice president and controller for Tarleton State University, effective March 1, 2015, Vice President for Finance and Administration Tye Minckler announced.
As director of business services and controller, she led a reorganization of the Business Services area to leverage talent and ensure business continuity, provided critical strategic support to the work of the Budget Advisory Council and the vice president of finance and administration, commenced several projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and established an initiative to improve financial transparency across the university.
“During her four-year tenure at Tarleton, Lori has demonstrated Tarleton’s core values through her gracious leadership, proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving, and her strong commitment to exemplary service,” said Minckler. “I am grateful to Lori for accepting the challenge. It is not easy being the controller of one of the fastest growing universities in the country pushing toward a $200 million budget.”
In her new role as Tarleton’s assistant vice president and controller, Beaty will serve as primary liaison with the State Auditor’s office and other oversight agencies for financial, tax and audit matters, as second liaison to The Texas A&M University System’s chief financial officer’s council and as the delegated authority in absence of the university’s CFO. Beaty will continue to oversee the recording and reporting of all financial activities, budget development, monitoring and forecasting, while managing a team of more than 20 employees.

Beaty is a graduate of Texas A&M University – Commerce, where she received a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting, and currently is working toward a Master’s of Business Administration at Tarleton. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Texas.
