Damion Clemons has a career high in rebounds with 12.

Dubliner Jakob Damstra, the LSC Academic Player of the Year, gets on the scoreboard with a hook shot in the paint!

Malcolm Hamilton is the first player to 20 with 2:46 remaining. He has 21 after an ‘And-1’ play. Hamilton is 9-13 from the floor and 2-3 from the stripe. Also has 6 rebounds. And he came off the bench.

Tarleton just smashed home its third oop of the night. It’s Reed again, and this may have been the most impressive dunk yet. 61-28.

And we are under way! Just tipped off from Allen Event Center!

Eastern sets a moving pick on first possession, then Mo Lee tosses an oop to Davene Carter for a big slam!

Michael Hardge was kicked or kneed down below, refs are reviewing play to see if it was malicious. We are squared up at 2-2 with 18:12 to go first half.

No technicals, no personals.

Nosa Ebomwonyi gets his first foul at 17:30. Player control foul driving to the basket, still 2-2.

What a pass! Nosa Ebomwonyi to Mo Lee, who gets the ‘And-1’ and the FT for a 5-2 Tarleton lead.

Now Ebomwonyi with a blocked shot, but then Eastern ties it with a triple by Michael Randle. 5-5.

Media Timeout after Clemons scores inside and Hamilton on the break to give Texans a 9-5 lead!

Player control foul (charging) has been a popular call thus far, two of them on each team. Texans up 9-7 early (13:45/1) here at Allen Event Center, where they are 8-1 all time and two time defending tournament champs.

TArleton appears ready for a run, scoring five straiht, all by Hamilton… but ENMU just got 2 back. 14-9 Texans with under 12:00 to go first half.

Tarleton is trying to win its 14th straight and is looking good so far. Scored 11 of last 15, and EJ Reed just has a massive blocked shot on an attempted dunk by ENMU. Texans up 20-11 at 9:15/1.

Mo Lee told me he is always looking for an open teammate or the best way to attack and get fouled. He attacked a moment ago and drew a goaltending call. Just aswell. 25-11 Texans, on 16-4 run.

Tarleton is on a 22-4 run, building a 31-11 lead at 7:13/1. Doc Elder, the legendary (in LSC circles) ENMU radio voice, just looked at me, shrugged and gave a thumbs up. Yes, Doc, Tarleton’s pretty good! That’s why Texans are ranked seventh in nation and first in South Central Region.

___________

Through almost 13 minutes:

Tarleton shooting 68.8 percent, ENMU 33.3 percent.

Tarleton 13 rebounds, ENMU just 3.

John Gilliam has 9 for ENMU, Mo Lee and Malcolm Hamilton have 8 each and Damion Clemons 7 for Tarleton. Hamilton and Clemons each came off the bench.

It’s now a 24-5 run by the Texans, who lead 33-12 with 6:08 left first half. Tarleton looking like it will win for the 54th time in 59 games dating back to start of last season.

Pace got a little helter skelter for a few possessions, Reisman gives a foot stomp, slows them down, and Tarleton drives for an easy Hamilton 2. He’s the first player in double digits, and the Texans are cruising, 35-12, at 4:49/1.

Freshman point guard Deshawn Riddick just came off bench and buried a triple. Tarleton can do little wrong right now, and ENMU can do little right against the Texan defense.

Wow, ENMU shooting just 5-22 from the floor, that won’t get it done.

Hard driving 2 by Riddick, the freshman point guard joining a slew of bench players with a big first half. It’s a 33-6 run and a 42-13 lead with 1:25 left until halftime.

Tarleton takes its ‘use it or lose it’ timeout. You have one you can’t carry over, might as well take it, so Reisman does even though his Texans are slamming the Greyhounds.

Somehow power forward Damion Clemons ends up bringing the ball up court against the press and gets a 10-second call. Reisman is not happy.

HALF: Tarleton crushing Eastern New Mexico 44-16.
