STEPHENVILLE (March 11, 2015) — Staff members from Tarleton State University’s Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness attended and presented at the annual conference of the Texas Association for Institutional Research in Addition March 3-6.

Staff attending were Dr. Michael Haynes, executive director of Tarleton’s OIRE, and staff members Dr. Elizabeth Wallace, Morgan Carter, Simon Smith and Jamie Wood.

Haynes presented “Institutional Research and Institutional Review Boards: A Partnership in Responsible Research.”  Along with Dr. Ashley Tull from Southern Methodist University, he also presented “Making Your Assessment Findings Appetizing and Digestible; Then Serving Them Up!”

Carter, Tarleton coordinator of institutional effectiveness, presented “CBM Verification Process,” discussing how Institutional Research assures error-free data in submitting to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The purpose of this professional development opportunity was to collaborate with institutional researchers from across the state, learn best practices and be introduced to tools and potential products, which could improve student learning at Tarleton. The staff efforts of Tarleton’s OIRE support the academic mission of the university.
