Tarleton’s Gordon Center hosting free ‘Museum After Dark’ scavenger hunt

The March 28 flashlight scavenger hunt at the W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas will take visitors throughout the museum in search of clues and hidden artifacts.

STEPHENVILLE (March 18, 2015) — Gather your friends and flashlights! Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas will host its second “Museum After Dark!” event on Saturday, March 28.

The flashlight scavenger hunt, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., is free and open to the public and is appropriate for all ages.

Museum After Dark! will be a scavenger hunt throughout the museum located in Texas’ most famous ghost town. Participants will earn points by following clues to discover hidden artifacts and completing tasks, such as playing period Thurber games and posing in themed photo booths. Prizes will be awarded to the teams or individual with the most points at the end of the scavenger hunt. All those attending will receive a door prize.

Free light refreshments will be served at the historic Snake Saloon bar in the museum’s gift shop.

Transportation to the museum in Thurber from the Tarleton Stephenville campus will be made available on a limited first-come, first-served basis for Tarleton students. Reservations for a seat on the shuttle may be made by calling 254-968-1886 or by emailingsadams@tarleton.edu no later than Wednesday, March 25.

The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a museum and research facility of Tarleton State University, is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene.

The center is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.tarleton.edu/gordoncenter or the museum’s Facebook page.
