John Pershing Rhoades, 95, of Bluff Dale, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 24th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Glenn Cemetery in Bluff Dale. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Johnny was born on September 20, 1919 in Bluff Dale to the late Emery and Ethel Miller Rhoades. He married Frances Fallin on April 15, 1949 in Bluff Dale. She preceded him in death in November 1999. Johnny was a retired rural mail carrier and rancher, a veteran of the Army Air Corps, and a member of the Bluff Dale Masonic Lodge for nearly 65 years. He played many years in the senior citizen softball league. He was a Baptist and lived most of his life in Bluff Dale.

Johnny is survived by his grandchildren, Kristy Fiebig (Brad) of Mansfield, Jocelyn Etters (Matt) of Stephenville, Kacy Warren (Justin) of Katy, Mandi Simmons (T.C.) of Lipan, Matt Rhoades of Bluff Dale, Whitney Rhoades of Bluff Dale, and Taylor Rhoades of Bluff Dale; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Judson Etters, Fallon and Ty Simmons, and Harper Fiebig; daughters-in-law, Marla Rhoades and Cheryl Rhoades and her children, Zach Schramm (Lindsey) and Kristi Schramm; sister, Lois Graves; and several nieces.

In addition to his parents and wife, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, E.L. Rhoades, Jr., and three sons, Rocky Rhoades, Rick Rhoades, and Rusty Rhoades.

His family would like to extend special appreciation to Oakwood Assisted Living, Panhandle Home Health Care and Senior Care of Stephenville.

The Rhoades family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Bluff Dale Volunteer Fire Department.
