Martin, Reynolds win events at Joshua Owl Relays

(March 23, 2015) — Hailey Martin won the girls 100 meter hurdles and Cameron Reynolds took first in boys shot put to highlight Stephenville’s performances in the Joshua Owl Relays Saturday.

Martin completed the 100 hurdles in 16.85 seconds for her victory, and was also third in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 5.25 inches. Reynolds won by heaving the shot put 48-8.5, and was third in the discus at 138-03.

Both Stephenville teams placed sixth, the Honeybees with 49 points and the Yellow Jackets with 42.

Kylee Ponder had the lone second-place finish for the Bees, completing the 100 meter dash in 12.84 seconds. Hannah Lindsey continued Stephenville’s strong hurdling tradition by placing third in the 300 hurdles in 49.83, with teammate Mikayla Hobbs coming in fifth in 50.05.

Maddi Cashell earned a pair of fourths in individual events – the 200 meter in 27.15 and the high jump at 5-0. Teammate Kaleigh Conger was sixths in high jump at 4-8. Peyton Wall was fifth in the 400 meter in 1:04.82.

The Bees had two relays earn points – the 4×400 team of Ponder, Hobbs, Lindsey and Wall was fifth in 4:16.69, while the 4×200 squad of Ponder, Martin, Cashell and Skylar Chipman placed sixth in 1:51.23.

Throwing events are where the Yellow Jackets shined. Noah Perez was second in the discus at 144-09, combining with Reynolds to score 14 points in the event. With Reynolds winning the shot put, the Jackets tallied 24 total throwing points.

Ben Martin and Jon Clark Giddings each placed third in events – Martin in the 200 in 23.51, Giddings in the pole vault at 13-6. Giddings was also sixth in the 100 meter in 11.42, while Austin Stufflebean was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 16.14.

Jackets Jose Desaracho, Tyler Griffin, Dawson Gray and Martin teamed up for fifth in the 4×400 relay in 3:36.54.
