DUBLIN (March 23, 2015) — After more than an hour in closed session, the Dublin ISD Board of Trustees returned to deny all three of the Level III grievances from Cipriano Rivera, a DISD teacher and a parent of former students at the district.

Rivera and his attorney agreed to the board’s request to discuss the grievances in executive session and met behind closed doors, returning only to take action on the three grievances separately. The first, about an incident on November 5, 2013, was unanimously denied by the board, as was the third, regarding an incident on December 10, 2013. The second grievance appeal request was denied by all voting board members, however, Jeff Weaver abstained.

In other business, the school board approved the minutes from the previous meeting and heard from DISD administration on various report agenda items. Included in the report agenda, DISD Assistant Superintendent Vicky Stone told the board about the new community service scholars program the district is offering, which allows seniors the chance to earn honors through community service hours. Stone reported that six students have already reached the needed hours and several more will get there by graduation time. She reported a few have reached their goal and continued to do community service.

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, April 20, in the district’s meeting room at 420 N. Post Oak Street in Dublin.
