STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State TexAnn head coach Misty Wilson has announced the second member of her 2015 recruiting class – Shelby Mankins, a 5-11 guard from Joshua.

“Shelby is a 5-11 guard that gives us some size on the perimeter,” said Wilson. “She uses her size well to get to the basket and in her mid-range game. She is a very mature young lady that fits into our program and meets the expectations for our student-athletes. We are looking forward to having Shelby in our program for four years and watching her develop into the player we believe she can be.”

Mankins is coming off a banner year at Joshua, during which she was named the JHS Team Most Valuable Player as a senior. In her final season, she was also named a first-team all-district selection and first-team all-Johnson county honoree as well as earning all-academic accolades and playing in the Chicken Express All-Star Game.

She average 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game as a senior while shooting 52 percent from the floor. She also averaged 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.

All of this following her breakout junior season when she was named a second-team all-district and all-county selection as well as earning academic all-district recognition.

Mankins joins Sunnyvale’s Karah Sicurella to the Tarleton State TexAnn recruiting class.
