HICO (May 14, 2015) — As storms clouds continue to threaten Erath and Hamilton Counties, a bright spot on the horizon has emerged – event organizers say the annual Cody and Jenny Ohl Steak Cook-off and PBR Chute Out is on, come rain or shine Saturday.

The event, a bull buck out and steak cook-off, is being held Saturday, May 16, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the family of four-year-old Madison Burt, who is battling cancer, and a portion to benefit the scholarship foundation for Hico High School seniors. Maddy is currently undergoing chemotherapy for a malignant brain tumor that was removed earlier this year, and her family is facing mounting medical bills.

On Saturday night there will be an auction with all the proceeds –  as well as part of the gate and entry fees – going to the Burt family. As with every year of the event, another portion of those fees will go a foundation that gives scholarships to seniors at Hico High School.

The bulls start bucking at 7 p.m. at the Ohl’s ranch (located at 3652 County Road 208 outside of Hico). In addition to hometown heroes and PBR stars jumping on the backs of bucking bulls, the Chute-Out features a calf scramble, mutton bustin’ for small cowboys and the highly anticipated head-to-head match between JW Harris, a four time world champ, and JB Mauney, also a world champion.

The head-to-head winner gets a hefty $10,000 purse along with bragging rights, and both men say they plan to donate the purse to the Burt family.
