TexAnns climb two spots to No. 13 in track rankings

NEW ORLEANS, LA (May 18, 2015) — Just days away from the NCAA championships, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released their pre-championship rankings Monday afternoon.

The 10th edition of the USTFCCCA rankings find the TexAnns of Tarleton State moving up from No. 15 last week to No. 13 this week.

Tarleton enters the NCAA’s after a strong showing at the Lone Star Conference championships in San Angelo May 7-9, finishing the meet in third-place as a team scoring 136.50 points and four school records to go along with three gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals.

Central Missouri of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Association holds strong at the No. 1 spot, checking in with 215.82 points – 44.43 points ahead of the next closest team (New Mexico Highlands – 171.39).

The Lone Star Conference checks in as the fourth toughest conference in women’s outdoor track and field proceeded by No. 1 (MIAA) Mid-America Intercollegiate Association with 638.82 points, No. 2 (GLIAC) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference with 455.42 points, and No. 3 (RMAC) Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with 393.89 points.

The Lone Star Conference received 304.63 points – up 6.39 points from last weeks 298.24 points – and features four teams ranked inside the top-25 – No. 10 West Texas A&M, No. 13 Tarleton State, No. 18 Angelo State, and No. 21 Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Tarleton will conclude the 2015 outdoor season May 21-23 in Allendale, Michigan, at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
