Johnson to assume academic position

AUSTIN (June 9, 2015) — Andrew Johnson will step down as Chief of Staff to State Representative J.D. Sheffield (R-Gatesville) effective this coming August. Johnson has served in the position since January 2013. He has accepted a position as a faculty member of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in the Department of Management and Marketing.

Johnson, a Stephenville High School graduate, served on the Stephenville City Council from 2004 to 2008 and as a planning and zoning commissioner in 2003.  Dr. Johnson earned his PhD in Business Administration with an emphasis in Strategic Management from The University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2015. His research has been published in the Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal and the highly-ranked Journal of Management.

“I appreciate the opportunity and insight that working for Dr. Sheffield has provided me over the past two legislative sessions,” said Johnson. “I am very much looking forward to pursuing my academic career but it has been a pleasure to work on behalf of my hometown for the Texas Legislature.”

Dr. J.D. Sheffield is a family practice physician from Gatesville, Texas. He represents Comanche, Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Somervell Counties in the Texas House of Representatives.
