ERATH COUNTY (June 22, 2015) — The Erath County Commissioners honored Cathey Hartmann and 13 other member of the Erath County Historical Society during their Monday morning meeting with the presentation of the Texas Distinguished Service Award. Hartmann and the others have worked tirelessly to preserve the wonderful history and promote the wealth of beauty Erath County has to offer, County Judge Tab Thompson said.

“Not only do we here in Erath County appreciate all your dedication and hard work,” Thompson said as he presented Hartmann with the plaque. “But so does the state of Texas.”

The court also approved the reappointments of Dr. Robert Newby and Alisa Starbird to the Pecan Valley Center of Behavioral Healthcare Board of Directors. They’ve both previously served on the board and the reappointments will allow the board to continue operating as they have in the last year. The reappointments are for service terms of two years, meaning they will serve on the board until 2017.

In other business, the commissioners approved replats (one in Mountain Lakes and a name change on a previously approved Wild Horse subdivision replat), as well as accepting new job description titles from the Juvenile Probation Department and an addition to the county’s pay scale for Juvenile Probation Deputy Chief.

Before adjourning, the court heard presentations from Mike Ellis (on additives to be used in diesel fuel and how that might save the county some money) and Jeff Wendeborn who talked briefly about his tire removal and disposal business.

“I just wanted people to know they can dispose of their tires locally, and we even come to Erath County on a rotation to pick them up,” Wendeborn said. “We’ve had lots of success with city and county sponsored tire clean-ups, as well as just removing them from the local entities.”
