STEPHENVILLE (July 2, 2015) — Area residents are invited to a fall tomato lunch-and-learn program hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Tarleton State University.
The free event will be held Monday, July 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research & Extension Office located at the intersection of US Hwy. 281 and Lingleville Road. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch.
The program will provide information about harvesting tomatoes for reuse and collecting seeds from heirloom varieties for future planting; organic vs. conventional tomato growing; and the basics of planting a fall tomato crop in the Cross Timbers region.
Speakers include Manon Shockey, horticulture instructor at Tarleton’s Horticulture Center; Geri Kline, Tarleton graduate student; and Gradie Wallace, AgriLife Extension Service intern.
