LINGLEVILLE — Services for Dess Outlaw, 99, homemaker, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lanny Spruill officiating. Burial will follow at Lingleville West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to service, at Lacy Funeral Home.

Dess was born January 25, 1916 on the old Gryder place, near Lingleville, TX, to the late C.W. Mayfield and Oma Eoff Mayfield. Dess had five sisters and two brothers, who preceded her in death. She married the late Sammie Lee Outlaw on September 24, 1933, officiated by the late Brother Jim Bays, in his home in Lingleville. S.L. preceded her in death on March 21, 1994, after a marriage of 60 years. Dess was a Baptist, and a housewife, she helped in the dairy, loved to sew, and piece quilts. She enjoyed her church work at the Lingleville Baptist Church in which she taught Sunday school classes and sang special music. She also sang at other places and lead the music with her son, Lawrence, playing the piano and organ for her. For many years, she and S.L. did the janitor work for the church. The church gave her a 25 year certificate for her outstanding work in the church after her retirement. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Lee Outlaw Sr. and his wife, Patricia Landes Outlaw, of Dublin; grandchildren, Sharon Outlaw Hillam and husband, David, of Rhome, TX, Lawrence Lee Outlaw Jr and wife, Crystal, of Comanche, and Carolyn Blackwell, of Tulsa, OK. 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. One of the great-grandchildren, Jesse Lee Outlaw, was raised by Sammie Lee and Dess.
