Wayne E. Baker, 63 of Stephenville, died Monday, July 13, 2015 in Stephenville.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 15th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.

Wayne was born on October 19, 1951 in Raymondville, Texas, to the late H. R. and Annie Hausenfluck Baker. He married Claire Mast on February 28, 1975 in Stephenville. Wayne graduated from Stephenville High School in 1970. He received his Bachelor of Science for Sociology from Tarleton State University in 1994. In 1995, he received his Masters of Education for Guidance and Counseling, and soon began counseling at a drug rehab facility. He began working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. He did his practicum counseling sex offenders and then, when he received his LPC license, began working at the Bridge Emergency Youth Services counseling ‘at risk’ kids. After almost 10 years with the Bridge, he started his private practice. He contracted with Juvenile Probation in Palo Pinto County and Child Protective Services in several surrounding counties. He taught parenting classes, counseled ‘at risk’ kids, and taught anger management classes until January of this year. Wayne lived in Cedar Hill, many years in Hico, and most of his life in Stephenville.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Claire; son, Shaun and wife Jodie Baker of Stephenville; daughter, Candice and husband Brit Hull of Stephenville; grandchildren, Elijah and Aiden Hull and Ian Baker; sister, Louise Baugh of Irving; brother, John Baker of Hico; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Wayne was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Baker.
