STEPHENVILLE (July 20, 2015) — Stephenville ISD trustees will work a double dip Monday, with a called meeting for a budget workshop to be followed by its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. inside Bond Auditorium.

A light agenda for the regular meeting is highlighted by an action item to consider approval of the proposed budget and proposed tax rate for 2015-16. Once approved, the proposed budget and tax rate will be the subject of a public hearing, in accordance with law. The hearing is scheduled for August 17, during the next regular board meeting.

Trustees will consider approval of both district core values and 2015-16 district goals Monday. The core values were up for approval in June, but were tabled following discussion concerning the exact wording.

Graduation has been held on a Saturday in recent years, but trustees will consider establishing Friday, May 27, as the school’s 2016 graduation date. Trustees seemed in favor of the measure when it was discussed as part of the superintendent’s report in June.

Damage caused by storms in April and May were still in the appraisal process in June. Director of maintenance Keith Starnes is scheduled to give trustees another insurance report on Monday.

In his superintendent’s report, Matt Underwood will discuss staff dress code, a teaching and learning plan and a summary of the Blended Learning Grant.

The agenda includes a closed session but offers no information concerning its topics.
