STEPHENVILLE (July 21, 2015) — Like thousands of other structures in Erath County following the storms of April and May, several Stephenville ISD facilities are in need of roof repairs. If you’ve been affected by the recent storms and need roofing repairs, either commercial or residential, then you can click here for more information.

As reported first on The Flash Today Monday evening, SISD suffered approximately $1.15 million in storm damages, though insurance estimates have not been finalized, says district maintenance director Keith Starnes. Even when damage appraisals are complete, Starnes says residents won’t be seeing roofing trucks pulling up to any SISD facilities soon. If you are looking for roofing companies scarborough might be worth checking out, however, you can always check out somewhere more local to you.

“With roofing I worry about the tar and the smell,” said Starnes Tuesday afternoon. “We don’t want parents to be concerned, especially if they have asthmatic students or something like that.”

The solution, then, is to get the Roofing Company to carry out the work during the summer. But with damage costs not yet finalized and a bidding process required for such a project, it won’t be this summer.

“We won’t start on any of that until after the (2015-16) school year,” said Starnes. “There are some things we can do while the kids are in school, but not roofing.”

Starnes informed Stephenville ISD trustees Monday that roof repairs are needed at Central, Chamberlin and Hook elementary schools as well as the administration building and the concession stand at James T. Young Baseball Field. The high school requires repair work on roof accessories.

Starnes says no bids will be accepted until insurance negotiations are complete, and noted that details concerning the bidding process will be announced in plenty of time for local and statewide contractors and roofers to submit bids.

“They just need to keep an eye on the news. Once we get everything done through the insurance company, we’ll share that information with the school board and be sure everyone knows when they can submit bids for the work.”

Starnes presented a summary of damages and insurance numbers to SISD trustees during their regular July meeting Monday. To learn more about the damages, see the recap of Monday’s board meeting here on The Flash.
