Martha Latham Smith, 85, of Stephenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 25, 2015 after persevering through many challenges. She “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith”.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville, Texas with Rev. Howard Martin officiating and Mike Hannah assisting.

Martha was born on June 15, 1930 to the late M.L. and Middie Mae Latham in Stephenville, Texas. Martha married W.C. Smith Jr. on January 20, 1950 in Stephenville. She retired in August 2001 after working twenty four years as a receptionist at the Texas A&M Extension Center. She was also a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville, Texas.

Martha is survived by daughters, Sandra Tate and husband John David of Granbury, Sue Owens and husband Tommy of Stephenville; grandchildren, Brian Tate and wife Amy of Wills Point, Brice Tate and wife Brandis of Lewisville, Brant Tate and wife Lynsey of Tolar, Melissa Reasoner and husband James of Kerrville, Jason Owens and wife Erin of Lubbock; Great Grandchildren, Ethan Tate, Kiera Tate, Levi Tate, Macy Reasoner, Hannah Reasoner, and baby Sophia Owens on the way; many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Smith Jr.; brothers Elton (Bud), Travis (Peb), Lawrence (Shorty), William (Bill); sisters Lois Neely, Louise Whitacre, Polly Free, Betty Powell, and Ina Talerico.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to Stephenville First United Methodist Church.
