STEPHENVILLE (August 4, 2015) —Summer commencement exercises at Tarleton State University are set for Saturday, Aug. 8, with approximately 540 graduates receiving diplomas.

The colleges of Business Administration and Liberal & Fine Arts will conduct their graduation ceremonies at 10 a.m. The College of Graduate Studies will conduct its graduation ceremony at 1 p.m., when all master’s candidates will receive their hoods upon crossing the stage at commencement.

The third ceremony of the day will include undergraduate candidates receiving degrees from the colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, Education and Science & Technology at 4 p.m.

All three programs take place in Wisdom Gymnasium in the Health and Physical Education Complex. Dr. F. Dominic Dottavio, president of Tarleton, will serve as presiding officer for the ceremonies.

Tarleton will award 417 undergraduate and 124 graduate degrees during the three ceremonies.

Guests traveling to campus for Saturday’s ceremonies are advised of a street closure and detour near Tarleton’s south entrance at Lillian Street. This week, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) closed a portion of Lillian Street from south of the Washington Street intersection to Centennial Lane, detouring traffic east onto Washington’s eastbound lanes.

If approaching campus from US 377 / South Loop and traveling north on Lillian toward Tarleton, motorists will be detoured west onto Long Street and Harbin Drive. Visitors are encouraged to access campus via Harbin Drive from the South Loop to avoid the street closure at the Lillian and Washington intersection.

The street closure is necessary for the installation of pedestrian crosswalks and signals ahead of the fall semester beginning Aug. 24.

A free shuttle service will be available to campus guests throughout the day. Six-passenger golf cart shuttles will ferry guests from parking lots P16, P17 and P30 to Wisdom Gym. Lot P10, a designated faculty/staff parking lot, also will be open during Saturday’s ceremonies.

University Police have announced that Rome Street will be closed to through traffic due to the expected high volume of pedestrians accessing Wisdom Gym for the commencement ceremonies. Visitors may enter campus from Frey Street, however, Rome Street will be closed from the entrance to Lot P26 (Nursing Building) south toward the Sloan Street intersection.
