Tarleton student elected president of National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow

STEPHENVILLE (August 12, 2015) — Taylor Kennedy, a senior agricultural communication student at Tarleton State University, has been named president of the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow.

The Paradise, Texas, native was elected in July during the 2015 Agricultural Media Summit in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Kennedy’s selection marks the fourth straight year a Tarleton student has been elected to serve on the national officer team. Last year, Kennedy served as the organization’s secretary/treasurer.

The National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow’s officer team is elected by delegates representing collegiate chapters across the nation. Selections are based on service, leadership, involvement and passion for agriculture.

“I am honored to have the chance to serve on the officer team,” Kennedy said. “It is such a great opportunity to network with other students, advisors and professionals to promote the message of agriculture.”

Kennedy served as 2014 president of the Tarleton chapter of the NACT, under the direction of Dr. Wayne Atchley, assistant professor and graduate program coordinator in the Department of Agricultural & Consumer Sciences.

“Taylor is a very motivated, hard working student. We are very proud to have her represent Tarleton and the agricultural communication program on a national level,” Atchley said.

Four additional college students were chosen from a national pool for the NACT team. Allison Fortner, University of Georgia, was elected vice president; John Hawley, Utah State University, was elected secretary/treasurer; Kelsey Litchfield, Illinois State University, was elected member relations coordinator; and Bridget Schumer, Missouri State University, was elected communications coordinator.

Throughout the next year, the officer team will oversee various organizational activities, concluding with the 2016 national convention in New Orleans.

Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow is an organization designed to further the career interests of its members through interactions with other students and professionals. More information about the organization can be found on its website atwww.nactnow.org.
