STEPHENVILLE (Aug. 12, 2015) — Take a break from back-to-school preparations this weekend when Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas hosts its next installment of Night at the Opera House, featuring The Cocoanuts.

The free film party starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, with the adaptation of the Marx Brothers’ 1925 Broadway hit.

Shot at Paramount’s Astoria Studios in Queens, N.Y., this early talkie takes place largely in the lobby of a Florida hotel during a local land boom. The Marx Brothers’ peerless shtick includes the classic “viaduct” routine.

Seating is limited and reservations are requested. Free snacks will be provided at intermission. To reserve seats, call 254-968-1886 or emailgordoncenter@tarleton.edu.

The W.K. Gordon Center, a museum and research facility, is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene.

The center is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visitwww.tarleton.edu/gordoncenter or the museum’s Facebook page.
