STEPHENVILLE (August 13, 2015) – The reigning NCAA Final Four representative Tarleton State Texans have announced the 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule, which is set to begin on Nov. 6 with an exhibition game against The University of Texas in Austin.

“The Texas game is great visibility for Tarleton State University and for our basketball program,” said Lonn Reisman, who will begin his 28th season as Tarleton’s head coach. “The game is going to be broadcasted on the Longhorn Network.”

Tarleton’s season will officially begin when they host the annual Texan Tip-Off Classic from Nov. 13-14 featuring Angelo State, Adams State and Colorado-Colorado Springs. The Texans’ first home game will be on Nov. 13 against UC-Colorado Springs at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. The Texans defeated UC-Colorado Springs in the second round of last year’s NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

After home games against Delta State on Nov. 18 and Bacone College on Nov. 21, Tarleton will host its second-two day tournament of the season when the Texans welcome Colorado Pueblo and Ouachita Baptist to Wisdom Gym Nov. 27-28.

As the calendar turns to December, Tarleton will play three home games against Arlington Baptist, Our Lady of the Lake and UT-Permian Basin before traveling to Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic from Dec. 18-19 where they’ll take on Rollins and Drury.

“This is probably the hardest nonconference schedule we’ve had in many years,” Reisman said. “We’re bringing in a lot of teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last year. It should be some great basketball for our fans to watch and will prepare us for conference play.”

The defending Lone Star Conference regular season champions will open the 2016 calendar year at home against Cameron on Jan. 2 for the first conference game.

“In all the years I’ve been in the Lone Star Conference, last year was the best I’ve seen. I look for this year’s teams to be just as competitive,” said Reisman, who enters the 2015-16 season with 589 career wins at Tarleton and 610 wins overall.

Lone Star Conference play will continue through Feb. 27. The LSC Championship Tournament is slated for March 2-5 in Allen at the Allen Event Center.

Tarleton returns nine members from the team that won the NCAA South Central Regional Championship and a school-record 31 wins last season and added several key players in the offseason.

“I’ve always felt like anybody that can come out of the Lone Star Conference and makes the NCAA Championships has a chance to go deep in the tournament – that’s how tough our conference is,” Reisman said.
