STEPHENVILLE (August 19, 2015) – Second-year head coach Misty Wilson has announced the schedule for the upcoming TexAnn Basketball season, which will officially tip-off in Wisdom Gym on November 13.

“Our schedule is one that will really help us progress throughout the season,” said Wilson. “We will play several teams that present different styles of play and will put our team in diverse situations with the hopes of preparing us for anything we might see in the postseason.”

After a home exhibition with Hardin Simmons on Nov. 5, Tarleton will officially begin the basketball season on November 13 with the third annual TexAnn Tip-Off Classic. Tarleton will welcome Concordia-Irvine and Texas A&M International, along with Lone Star Conference rival Texas A&M-Kingsville, for a two-day tournament to begin the season.

From there, the TexAnns play five of the next six games in the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym – including a December 5 matchup with perennial playoff contender, St. Mary’s – before taking flight to Las Vegas for the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.
The women’s team will make their first appearance in Las Vegas, joining the tournament the Texan Basketball team has competed in since 2013, playing against Stonehill College and Montana State-Billings on December 18-19.

“The Las Vegas trip will be a highlight for our players because of the location,” said Wilson. “As for our team, it will be great competition as Stonehill College and Montana State-Billings have great women’s basketball programs.”

Upon their return from Las Vegas, Tarleton will take time off for the holiday season before beginning LSC action with a New Year’s Eve game in Denton with Texas Woman’s at 7:30.

The Texas Woman’s game will be the first of 16 consecutive Lone Star Conference contests to end the regular season, which concludes on February 27 in Commerce against the Lions at 4 p.m. Tarleton’s final regular season home game of the year is slated for February 20 against West Texas A&M at 5 p.m.

“The Lone Star Conference has been playing at such a high level in recent years and we expect that to be the case again during conference play,” said Wilson. “I’m really looking forward to seeing our team compete against quality teams every time they step on the floor.”

The LSC will host the annual postseason tournament at the Allen Event Center once again on March 2-5. The NCAA regional tournament is scheduled for March 11-14.
