(September 3, 2015) — If the money stopped counting today, 16 athletes would represent the Cowboy of the Capital of the World and surrounding area in the 2015 National Finals Rodeo.
Several – Bobby Mote in bareback riding, team roping world champs Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill along with heelers patrick Smith, Travis Graves and Travis Woodard, saddle bronc riders Isaac Diaz, Jacobs Crawley and Cort Scheer and tie-down roper Marty Yates have all earned enough their spots in the NFR are secure.
But everyone else is still working to secure their spot in the final top 15 to reach the NFR, while others, like Morgan Mill heeler Dakota Kirchenschlager who is 16th in the world, are trying to break through.
Earnings count toward the NFR until Sunday, Sept. 27, the end of the weekend that includes the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo at Lone Star Arena Thursday, Sept. 24-Saturday, Sept. 26.
Here are the locals in the top 25 of their respective events. The top 15 in the final standings qualify for the NFR:
