MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 11, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownwood.

INTERMENT: 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2015, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Gerald David Davis, age 74, passed from this life on September 6, 2015.

Gerald was born on September 6, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, to Claude and Alice Davis. He met Judy Frickey in Louisiana when he was working on the railroad. They married two months later and returned to Texas. Gerald joined the San Antonio Police Department and the Texas National Guard. He served his community for twenty years as a police officer. He retired from the Police department and served active duty with the National Guard. He and Judy moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Des Moines, Iowa, while he was on active duty. They returned to Texas and settled in Comanche in 1997. Gerald retired from the National Guard as Warrant Officer IV.

He made a tremendous impact on many people’s lives. He never met a stranger and had a way of putting others at ease with his stories and humor. Gerald will be greatly missed as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Comanche; daughter and son-in-law Shelly and Joseph Turner of Frisco; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Cherry Davis of Sabinal; son, Christopher Davis of Billings, Montana; grandchildren: Caitlin and Aaron of Frisco, and Michael, Jacob, Luke, Liza and Mary of Sabinal; sister, Veronica Hansmann of San Antonio; brothers, Reginald of San Antonio, Marshall of Devine, Harold of Plano, Claude Ray of Bryston, Rodney of Burnett, Alton of Lincoln Nebraska, and Wayne of Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Anthony.
