(September 10, 2015) — Here’s where Dublin’s quarterback competition comes back to aid the Lions.

Head coach Bob Cervetto realized all along all three players competing for Dublin’s starting quarterback job could help his team in other ways as they strive to reach the playoffs for the second straight season after breaking an 11-year skid in 2014.

Sure enough, while Brady Moore earned the starting quarterback role, Trask Brown immediately went to work as a threat at receiver, and Isidro Bahena took off as a utility player.

Just two short weeks later, however, Moore is out with a sprained ankle suffered in a loss at Albany last Friday, and Brown, who tossed a touchdown to Chuy Chacon in relief, is leading the offense.

Brown will be the quarterback when Dublin entertains Rio Vista on homecoming night at Dublin’s Memorial Stadium Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

“Trask is doing fine,” quipped Dublin head coach Bob Cervetto when asked earlier this week how his quarterback (Moore) was doing. “We had all three of those guys ready to go, and this is why.”

And while Bahena is also available at quarterback, he will likely join Chacon as one of Brown’s primary targets in the passing game while Manny Ramirez continues to tote the mail as the primary rusher.

Cervetto expects Moore to return within a couple weeks, in plenty of time for District 10-3A Division II play.
