Stephenville team ropers come up aces in Washington

STEPHENVILLE (September, 16, 2015) — Local team ropers duked it out at Washington State Fair Pro Rodeo over the weekend, and in the end, world champs Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill tied in the finals with Stephenville heeler Kory Koontz and partner Colby Lovell.

It was part of a big week by local team ropers as Tryan and Corkill won a total of $8,795 at the event and Koontz pocketed $8,005. Huckabay heeler Paul Eaves earned $6,195.

Stephenville cowboy Cole Davison also celebrated a heeling victory, partnering with header Then Richard to win the Utah’s Own Rodeo at the Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City.

Here’s a look at those standings, and the world standings with just two weeks left for money counting toward the 2015 National Finals Rodeo. Shown are local competitors in the top 40 of their respective events, with the top 15 advancing to the NFR.

The Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo in Stephenville is next week at Lone Star Arena, and is one of the final rodeos for NFR money.
