After the match opened up in a tight 6-6 battle over the opening 12 points, Xzache Mathis landed a kill shot from Chandler Gow to start a run of five straight kill shots for Tarleton – three from Hailey Roberts and one from Kenya Alexander – and put Tarleton up 11-6.

Angelo pulled things as close as three before Tarleton pulled away by as many as nine at 22-13. Tarleton put the game away with a service error and two kills from Roberts for a 25-18 win and a 1-1 score in the match.

Tarleton ran into some trouble with errors in the third set and fell behind in the match 2-1 following a 25-14 loss.

In the fourth set, Tarleton jumped out to a quick 7-5 lead before a 5-1 Angelo surge put the Rambelles up 10-8. The TexAnns battled back valiantly to even things at 12-12 and again at 13-13, but a service error gave Angelo its last lead of the set at 14-13 as Angelo outscored Tarleton 11-7 the rest of the way for a 25-20 TexAnn loss.

Tarleton committed 35 unforced errors in the four sets – including 15 attack errors in the third set that allowed Angelo to swing the momentum back after the TexAnns took set two 25-18. Tarleton had 28 attack errors on the night en route to a .115 hitting percentage for the match.

Roberts led the way with her sixth 20-kill game of the season, going for 25 kills and adding 12 digs for her ninth double-double of the season and the 26th of her career. Xzache Mathis added 10 kills of her own.
