Wood wins three-round average in Cowboy Capital steer roping

STEPHENVILLE (September 24, 2015) — The Steer roping kicked off the 2015 Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo Thursday morning at Lone Star Arena, and Neal Wood of Needville, Texas won the first aggregate title at the rodeo. Below is a round-by-round summary:

ROUND 1:

The Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo (CCPRA Pro Rodeo) held in Stephenville began with the Ultra Directional Drilling Steer Roping on Thursday September 24, 2015.  The first round win wen to Neal Wood of Needville, Texas.  The cowboy roped his first steer in 10.8 seconds and won $1641.66. The go round win jumped him to the #7 spot in the World Standings, moving him past Cody Lee.  Second in the first go round was Leo Campbell from Amarillo, Texas with a time of 11.0 seconds.  The win earned him $1358.61.  Third place was Shay Good from Midland, Texas.  Good was 11.2 seconds and won $1075.57 to move him within $10 of Jo Jo Lemond who suffered an injury at the rodeo in Pendleton.  Fourth in the first go round went to Chet Herren of Pawhuska, Oklahoma with a time of 11.3 seconds. ROUND 2:

The Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo (CCPRA Pro Rodeo) held in Stephenville, Texas began with the Ultra Directional Drilling Steer Roping on Thursday September 24, 2015.  The second round was a fast go round.  Roger Branch of Perkins, Oklahoma won the go round with a time of 9.9 seconds.  The win gave him $1641.66. Second place was a split between two brothers. Vin Fisher and J. Tom Fisher were both 10.0 seconds in the go round to win $1217.09 each.  Vin Fisher is currently leading the World Standings with $64,749.91.  J. Tom Fisher climbed into the #16 spot with $33,340.16.  Fourth in the go round went to Jess Tierney with a time of 10.3 seconds.

Round 3:

The Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo (CCPRA Pro Rodeo) held in Stephenville, Texas began with the Ultra Directional Drilling Steer Roping on Thursday September 24, 2015. The third round win went to Vin Fisher with a time of 9.6 seconds.  He added another $1641.66 to his earnings. Second place was Troy Tilliard from Douglas, Wyoming with a time of 10.2 seconds.  He earned $13.58.61. Third place was Brent Lewis from Pinon, New Mexico and fourth went to Ralph Williams of Skiatook, Oklahoma.

The average win went to Neal Wood as he roped three steers in 35.6 seconds.  The win paid him $2462.49, plus trophy belt buckle donated by Mark and Dena Miler, trophy spurs donated by Travis and Arnold Felts, and a trophy rifle donated by Dug Dugan.  Second place in the average went to Will McBride from Ogallala, Nebraska with a time of 37.1 seconds on three steers.  Shane Suggs from Granbury, Texas with a time of 37.9 seconds on three steers.  Fourth was Jess Tierney and fifth went to Guy Allen.
