Tarleton choirs present works from around the world in first concert of year

STEPHENVILLE (October 1, 2015) — Taking the stage in its first concert of the year, Tarleton State University’s Choral Program presents “Tapestry of Songs” featuring works from around the world at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Theater.

Under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson, director of choirs and assistant professor of vocal studies, Tarleton will showcase its Chamber Choir, Select Women’s Ensemble and Texan Gentlemen as they perform traditional music from Mongolia, Cuba, Jamaica and the Czech Republic. Newly composed works from Australia and Norway also are included in the concert as well as spiritual and folk songs of the United States, and even a little taste of operetta.

General admission is $5 or free for Tarleton students, faculty and staff with a valid ID. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office one hour prior to the concert.
