Joyce Fayne Bankhead

Joyce Fayne Bankhead, 89, of Stephenville, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 in Clyde, Texas surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Craig Shackleford and Loyd Cudd officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne.

Joyce was born on September 20, 1926 to the late Fred and Abbie Miller. She married the love of her life, George Bynus Bankhead (G.B.) on April 4, 1949 in Temple, Texas and together they raised four children. Joyce resided the major part of her life in Stephenville and felt that was her home. She was known by all as a loving Christian, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandmother, friend, and nurse. Her many skills during her lifetime, besides her Christian example, included cooking, gardening, servicing and helping others, and a determination to never quit trying. She was a member of the Church of Christ and her favorite place to be was in church worshiping God. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cathy Ann Bankhead, James Ronald Bankhead, and Carolyn Fayne Bacher; sister, Ertith Cleo Smedley; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bankhead, Paul Anthony Bacher, Philip Nathaniel Bacher, Amy Bankhead, and William Loren Bankhead (Billy); and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin, and Landon Weeden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia on January 6, 1970; parents; her husband, George on December 9, 1997; son-in-law, Jeffery Mark Bacher on August 30 , 2012.
