STEPHENVILLE (October 20, 2015) — Stephenville FAITH placed second in the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO) Division II state tournament in Austin last weekend, and the Knights are not done.
FAITH leaves Wednesday morning for Springfield, Missouri, opening up play Monday in the National Christian Homeschool Volleyball Championships. There are more than 30 teams in the field, says head coach Robyn Ballew.
“We had a good weekend last weekend, obviously we wanted to win, but we have qualified for nationals and we’re excited about that,” says Ballew.
Leading the way have been a pair of first-team all-state pics in Mikayla Wand and Sarah Welch. Nelle Jenkins was named second-team all-state. But when it came down to the state tournament, the star and all-tourney pick from FAITH was Sarah Braun.
The Knights were 10-3 during the season and won two of three matches at state. They take a 12-4 record into the national tournament.
