Tarleton vocal majors present opera, musical scenes in ‘Texans Gone French’

STEPHENVILLE (October 28, 2015) — Tarleton State University’s Department of Fine Arts presents selected scenes of French-themed operas and musicals featuring the talent of up-and-coming students during a free public concert Friday, Nov. 6.

“Texans Gone French” begins at 7:30 p.m. inside the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium, prepared and directed by Drs. Iwao Asakura and Heather Hawk.

The concert features scenes from Carmen, Les contes d’Hoffmann, The Merry Widow, Candide, Follie, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Beauty and the Beast and Les Misérables. Select Tarleton students, majoring in vocal performance, sing in French and English. Heather Hamilton, adjunct piano instructor, accompanies.
