Dublin to celebrate Christmas with annual lighted parade, more

DUBLIN (December 1, 2015) – To kick off the holiday season and celebrate “Shamrocks and Peace on Earth,” Dublin is hosting its annual Lighted Christmas Parade Thursday.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the parade will start on Travis and work its way down Highway 377/Patrick St. and end on Elm St. Before the parade, kids can go see Santa at different locations around Dublin. After the parade ends, everyone is invited to enjoy food and entertainment, hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, at the Wright Historical Park and Pavilion. Additionally, from 7-8:30 p.m., the Auntie Em Dancers will be presenting “Christmas Smiles” with guest performers the Dandi-Lion Drill Team and Dublin Stage Band at the Old Auditorium on 419 N Camden St.


Santa’s schedule will be starting with a stop at the library for story time from 9:30-11 a.m. and go to the KWBY radio station ribbon cutting and open house at 19623 S Highway 377 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  Then, kids can visit him from 3-5 p.m. at Texas Car Detail located on 216 Patrick St. After the parade, Santa will be ending his day at the corner lot gazebo from 7-8:30 p.m.

To enter a float in the Lighted Christmas Parade, contact Rhonda Williams at City Hall at 254-445-3331 or via email at rgwilliams@gmail.com. The entry fee for each float will be children’s outerwear such as coats, gloves or scarves. The donations can be new or used in good condition. Floats will need to line up at 5:30 p.m. in the Dublin ISD Memorial Stadium parking lot.
