New Year’s Day closings

ERATH COUNTY (December 31, 2015) — Erath County will celebrate the New Year by closing many area offices all day on Friday, January 1. Regular business will resume on Monday, January 4.

Both the city of Stephenville and the city of Dublin will close on Friday, January 1, reopening on Monday, January 4, for regular business hours. There will be no trash pickup in either town or in the county on New Year’s Day. Trash pickup will resume on the next regular pickup day.

While all area banks will be closed on New Year’s Day, they will all be open on Thursday and will reopen on their next regular business day (either Saturday or Monday). The United States Post Office will not deliver on Friday, January 1, but will deliver on Thursday, December 31, as well as Saturday, January 2.

Most local grocery stores will be open, including Brookshire Brothers in Dublin, HEB in Stephenville and Wal-Mart in Stephenville. Other area shops that will be open for business on New Year’s Day include CVS, Walgreen’s, McDonald’s, Starbucks and most gas stations.

All area schools, including Tarleton State, will be closed for the holiday. Local public schools will be closed for the winter break. Tarleton offices were closed at noon on Wednesday, December 23, and will reopen on Monday, January 4, for regular business hours.
