Tarleton professor selected to Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators

STEPHENVILLE (January 5, 2016) — Dr. Anita Castañeda, assistant professor at Tarleton State University, will be inducted into The Texas A&M University System 2016 Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators. The Academy recognizes individuals who make significant contributions to teacher education.

“Because of the hard work our faculty put into preparing teachers for the classroom, the Texas A&M System is known throughout the country for producing some of the best teachers,” said Chancellor John Sharp. “Through the Academy, we recognize those who have worked tirelessly to ensure that students are equipped with the experience and knowledge necessary to become top-quality teachers themselves. I am proud to honor and welcome the latest inductees.”

Inductees are selected by past Academy members and nominated by university students, faculty and staff. They receive a $1,000 stipend, commemorative medallion and recognition at the Chancellor’s Century Council annual meeting in Austin.

An assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, Castañeda joined Tarleton in 2001. She has a doctorate in reading, a master’s in reading and bilingual education and a bachelor’s in elementary education from Texas Woman’s University.
