STEPHENVILLE (January 21, 2016) — The Stephenville Economic Development Authority Board of Directors selected Alora M. Wachholz, currently with the City of Flower Mound, as the lone finalist for executive director Wednesday.
Members of the board of directors, including ex-officio members, met in executive session for most of two hours, during which time they interviewed Wachholz before reconvening in open session to approve moving into contract negotiations. Her hire is subject to approval by Stephenville City Council.
Wachholz is currently an economic development specialist in Flower Mound and was previously economic development and marketing coordinator in Trophy Club, management analyst in Westlake and a document control manager in construction administration for Jacobs Engineering Group.
Wachholz has been awarded the ICMA Young Professional Scholarship, was recognized as the 2013 E. Ray Griffn Scholar at the annual University of North Texas Master of Public Administration Conference and was awarded a grant through the UNT Foundation’s Charldean Newell Award in 2013.
Wachholz is a member of a number of economic development organizations and has helped Flower Mound rank as the No. 2 city in the nation on CNN Money Magazine’s 2014 “Best places to find a job” list, according to the city’s website. Flower Mound also boasts it is No. 12 nationally and No. 1 in Texas on the CNN Money Magazine’s “Top earning towns” list, and No. 9 in the nation and No. 1 in Texas on 24/7 Wall Street’s “Best places to live” rankings. It is also No. 1 on CNN Money Magazine’s 2013 list of “Best places to live in Texas.”
