(February 2, 2016) — Bridgeport kept getting a one goal lead and Aaron Veloz kept answering for Stephenville.

Veloz scored a pair of equalizers in a 2-2 draw that leaves Stephenville unbeaten at 9-0-1. There was no extra time or shoot out played in the physical non-district battle, and a rematch is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday at Lem Brock Field.

Bridgeport led 1-0 on a goal in the 37th minute of the first half, but Veloz took an assist from Aaron Burrows and scored the equalizer two minutes after intermission.

A controversial penalty set up a PK and goal for Bridgeport to take a 2-1 advantage, but the Jackets answered by with a penalty kick of their own from Veloz to cause the draw.

Stephenville is 8-0-2 in open play, also drawing in regulation with 5A power Waco University. In that tie, penalty kicks were used to determine a winner because it was the championship match of the Knights of Columbus Challenge of Champions in Stephenville. The Jackets won the shootout, 4-2.
