STEPHENVILLE (February 3, 2016) — There were baked goods, college signs, plenty of hugs and smiles and more photos than the mothers could possibly sift through in a day.

It was national signing day, always a festive time at Stephenville High School, and 2016 was no exception with four soccer standouts and a football star signing up to take their careers to the collegiate level.

Bayleigh Chaviers cemented a commitment made during her sophomore year, signing with Miami (Fla.) for soccer. The club and high school standout helped the Honeybees to the regional tournament last year and is a two-time track and field state champion in the 800 meter.

Keeper Jordyn Howle also signed a national letter of intent with Texas A&M-Commerce. In net, Howle has helped the Honeybees to nine consecutive victories including the Knights of Columbus Challenge of Champions title and is also a decorated player, having played for local coach and instructor Lane Sharp since she was 11.

Senior twins Shelby and Peyton Wood each signed letters of commitment to Concordia in Austin.

Josh Nowell was the lone football signee from Stephenville. A modest Nowell, recruited as a receiver and punter, kept quiet about his recruiting and did not make his final decision public until just after 5 p.m. Sunday, when he announced he would attend Midwestern State. He cemented that commitment with a signature on Wednesday.
